摘要: Background: A coding framework was evaluated to study patients undergoing open surgical replacement of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in the English Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) database. The objective create groups who are homogeneous with respect diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Methods: The frequency consistency potentially relevant diagnosis (International Classification Diseases, 10th revision) procedure (Office Population Censuses Surveys Classification, 4th codes were assessed admitted National Health Service hospitals between April 2003 March 2008. Administrative compared check that had undergone emergency surgery for a ruptured AAA as emergency. Results: Of 20 290 replacement, 19 250 (94·9 per cent) consistent (unruptured or AAA); 79·3 cent coded having 95·7 those non-emergency unruptured AAA. Of AAA, 93·3 been emergency. Conclusion: Coding high. proposed could define by combining administrative codes. It also allows assessment potential miscoding at national hospital level.
