摘要: Bergmann's rule, claiming that in homeotherms body size increases inversely with temperature so that, intraspecifically, latitudinally, is not valid, nor the explanation of this rule. In large mammals at first latitude, but then reverses between 53 and 65° N, small sizes occur lowest highest latitudes. This predicted by hypothesis follows duration annual productivity pulse, a function availability nutrients energy during periods growth. Correlations are shown to be spurious. If reduction relative surface area indeed an adaptation conserve heat, should increase from south north rates two orders magnitude greater than they do. rule has no basis fact or theory.
