摘要: Objective To investigate the functional outcomes of patients with anoxic brain injury (AnBI) compared control traumatic (TBI) during inpatient rehabilitation. Design Matched case-controlled design. Setting Inpatient neurorehabilitation program. Participants Fifteen AnBI and 15 TBI. Methods Data a primary diagnosis were retrospectively reviewed matched to TBI admitted within same time frame on age, acute care length stay, status at admission. Main Outcome Measure Functional outcome was assessed by use Independence (FIM). Results Compared TBI, achieved significantly lower FIM motor gain (16.3 ± 15.6 versus 5.7 10.7, respectively) efficiency scores (0.27 0.28 0.06 0.13), discharge cognition (25.9 5.9 21.7 7.3), total (22.5 19.6 9.1 12.1), (0.39 0.38 0.10 0.16; all P Conclusions suggest slower rate recovery for physical being than cognitive as measured rehabilitation when according preinjury characteristics Future studies larger samples that design longer-term measurement are warranted further clarify differences in between these groups assess whether optimal interventions differ groups.
