The economic and quality of life impact of hypoglycemia

摘要: Hypoglycemia is an often underrecognized side effect of type 2 diabetes therapy. This study assessed the burden hypoglycemia in this population Sweden and included 309 patients aged 35 years or older treated with insulin and/or oral antidiabetic agents. Data were gathered through patient questionnaires/interviews chart reviews. The results showed that 115 (37%) reported symptoms during preceding month. Patients more affected by their diabetes, lower general health, anxious about than those without hypoglycemia. direct indirect costs per hypoglycemic estimated to be U.S. $12.9 $14.1, respectively, for a 1-month period. indicate common, reduction these symptoms, reducing glycemic control, may improve well-being possibly also reduce cost.
