摘要: The use of surgical antibiotic prophylaxis (SAP) in children is poorly characterized. Our aim was to evaluate the effectiveness a quality improvement (QI) intervention targeting SAP children, by means multicenter prospective study, with before and after design. We prospectively investigated elective procedures performed <18 years, prior QI intervention, at 9-month follow-up. primary outcomes were adherence indications appropriateness, defined considering choice, timing first dose duration administration. compared appropriateness post-intervention considered patient procedure characteristics as covariates two logistic regression models assess effect on appropriateness. collected information 2383 (pre-intervention: 784; post-intervention: 790; follow-up: 809). had significant impact (86.6% post-intervention, 82.0% intervention; p < 0.05), its (35.7% 19.9%; p < 0.01). maintained follow-up (38.3%; p < 0.01 pre-intervention). All components significantly improved analyses confirmed improving Following there pediatric surgery, though more efforts are needed increase
