摘要: Background The etiology of idiopathic adhesive capsulitis (IAC) the shoulder is poorly understood. In this case control study, we examine potential risk factors for development IAC. Methods Consecutive patients who presented to senior author with IAC between 2000 and 2009 were included retrospectively in study. Complete data available 87 patients. An age- sex-matched group 176 same practice during time period non-shoulder related orthopedic complaints recruited as group. Health records patient-completed questionnaires utilized identify comorbidities other factors. Results Bivariate analyses demonstrated that diabetes, hypothyroidism, a lower body weight, mass index (BMI), positive family history all Diabetes, BMI, remained independent variables multivariate logistic regression analyses. There was trend towards increased incidence Dupuytren's disease those IAC, but not statistically significant. With regard racial predilection, being born British Isles or having parents/grandparents Conclusion We confirm diabetes an predictor addition, possible predilection Future research needed whether specific genetic component environmental responsible.
