摘要: chroederSmaldoneAim To report an analysis of the concept food insecurity in order to (a) propose a theoretical model useful nursing; and (b) discuss its implications for nursing practice, research, health promotion. Background A total 48 million Americans are insecure. As is associated with multiple negative effects, intervention warranted. Design Concept analysis. Data sources A literature search was conducted May 2014 Scopus MEDLINE using exploded term “food insecur*.” No year limit placed. Government websites popular media were searched ensure full understanding concept. Review Methods Iterative analysis, Walker Avant method. Results Food defined by uncertain ability or inability procure food, enough being unable live healthy life, feeling unsatisfied. A proposed insecurity, adapted from Socio-Ecological Model, identifies three layers (individual, community, society), potential impact at each level. Conclusion Nurses must work fight insecurity.
