摘要: Patients with small cell carcinoma of the lung (SCCL) were histologically subtyped according to Working Party for Therapy Lung Cancer classification and treated combination chemotherapy. Of 103 patients studied, 54 had lymphocyte-like (oat cell) subtype, 41 intermediate 8 a mixture two. No significant difference in initial performance status, extent disease, chemotherapeutic response rate, or survival (median, 10.2 mo) was noted among histologic subtypes. When subtype primary biopsy tissue compared other pathology specimens from same patient, concordance present 74% patients. In remaining 26%, two three subtypes present. This study demonstrates no clinically differences various SCCL extensively staged aggressive cytotoxic therapy. Because this because concurrent tissues multiple sites patient may vary we conclude that prognostic therapeutic decisions should not be based on subtype.
