摘要: The objectives of this paper are to describe the ongoing projects in diesel engine combustion research at Sandia National Laboratories' Combustion Research Facility and detail recent experimental results. approach we employing is assemble hardware that mimic realistic geometries while enabling optical access. For example, using multi-cylinder heads or one-cylinder versions production mated blocks. Optical access then obtained through a periscope an exhaust valve, quartz windows piston crown, spacer plates just below head, cylinder liners. We have three experiments supported by Department Energy, Office Heavy Vehicle Technologies: version Cummins heavy-duty engine, simulation facility, Caterpillar evaluate alternative fuels.
