摘要: Several types of hard coatings were applied onto metallic components in arthroprostheses’ bearings to reduce UHMWPE wear and the consequent debris-induced periprosthetic osteolysis, that is still main problem arthroplasty. This approach was aimed obtain surface metal finish scratch resistance similar ones alumina ceramic components. Many attempts made improve properties stainless steel, cobalt-chromium, titanium alloys zirconium alloys. Arthroprostheses’ bearing coated by nitride (TiN) or diamond-like carbon (DLC), more recently zirconium-2,5 Nb alloy with a layer monoclinic dioxide introduced on market. paper briefly reviews literature prosthetic assess today’s status this technology
