Poles Apart?: The Social Construction of Responsibility for Climate Change in Australia and Norway

摘要: This article provides a comparative discourse analysis of the climate responsibility narratives Australian and Norwegian political leaders during period 2007–2012. The focuses on how imagine their country's identity role in world they connect (or disconnect) these identities, roles interests with for change, respective energy policies. shows that striking differences mitigation ambition discourses between Australia Norway are clearly related, but cannot be reduced, to relative dependence fossil fuel. Rather, national international conception provide far more illuminating account than simple interest-based explanation. However, not quite so “poles apart” policies, I briefly explore implications policy hypocrisy.
