Current situation and prospects of Jatropha curcas as a multipurpose tree in China

摘要: This paper reviews the current status of studies on Jatropha curcas in China. has been grown China for more than 300 years. It is mainly distributed southwest from Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to hot and dry Three-River Valley with monsoon climate southeast provinces Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan Taiwan along coast. The regions where it occurs have annual rainfall >500 mm average temperature greater 19°C. a wide range soil regimes these regions. In jatropha usually blossoms bears fruits only once year, but there are also instances two or flowerings per year. some small high yielding pilot areas, fruit output reported be 9,000–12,000 kg ha, whereas large plantings averages about 1,800 ha. order contribute sustainable production jatropha, further focused different ecotypes, improvement seed quality, plantation techniques, flowering fruiting characteristics, harvest post-harvest handling seeds required. More research biomedicinal potential various parts plant information actual markets needed realize full jatropha.
