Long term language deficiencies in children with otitis media during their first year of the life.

摘要: A cohort of lower socio-economic children who experienced multiple and prolonged episodes otitis media (OM) during their first year life were compared to an equivalent group largely free OM year. Both groups followed until 9 years age. The data indicate that with positive histories performed poorer on a variety Iinguisitc tasks across the nine age span than OM. results suggest effect its accompanying hearing loss communication skills may extend throughout childhood.
