摘要: Both birds and plants are major components of the world's biocultural diversity. Salient species both recognized named in virtually every language feature countless ways people's systems knowledge, practice, belief, as sources food, materials, medicines, ceremonial religious symbols. However, these two biological groups also linked together, their ecological associations likewise reflected cultural knowledge systems. In northwestern North America, there many examples intersection botanical ornithological vocabulary, narratives, belief systems, management practices. Here we provide diverse illustrations this plant-bird associations. These link together observations bird habits habitats with particular plant show how complex integrated experience has helped promote richness well-being for First Peoples region. Bird from swans (Cygnus spp.) to hummingbirds (Trochilidae) edible root vegetables nectar-producing flowers exemplified representatives ethnoecological connections. relationships remind us importance interspecies ties environmental integrity—a key sustainable living into future.
