摘要: Tinea capitis is endemic among schoolchildren in tropical Africa. The objective was to determine the prevalence of symptomatic tinea Gabon. A cross-sectional study conducted with 454 children aged 4-17 years, attending a rural school and an urban school. diagnosis based on clinically manifest infection, direct microscopic examination using 20% potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution fungal culture. Based clinical examination, 105 (23.1%) had capitis. Seventy-four (16.3%) were positive by and/or depended studied ranged from 20.4% higher socioeconomic status 26.3% lower status. Similarly, spectrum causative species varied between different schools. Taken schools together, Trichophyton soudanense (29.4%) most prominent species, followed tonsurans (27.9%) Microsporum audouinii (25.0%). Clinically Lambarene region type that investigated.
