摘要: Abstract In an attempt to contribute towards a more sustainable development for the island of Puerto Rico, this project focuses on documentation and evaluation Tropical Agriculture Research Station (TARS) near urban center city Mayaguez, Rico as case study site establish multi-use research-oriented forest. This location has been used since beginning 20th century plant introduction site, in situ germplasm collection numerous species. The methods consisted identifying unique resources within area stressors which could affect latter. Unique were also identified Preliminary Resource Inventory Map (PRIM) using GPS technology. Obtained results observations indicate that represents major potential asset positive economic, social, educational Mayaguez due its unique, historic, complex ecosystems with significant environmental cultural resources. Of stressors, expansion was considered most threatening. Hypothetical recommendations providing base future management efforts formulated objective protecting sustainably resources, while promoting socioeconomic benefits region.
