Assessment of violence potential using measures of anger, hostility, and social desirability

摘要: The assessment of violence potential was studied using the following scales: Novaco Anger Inventory, Buss-Durkee Hostility MMPI Control Scale (Hc), Overt (Ho), and Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale. five measures were evaluated for their ability to discriminate between violent nonviolent criminals, criminal normal population samples. Normative data collected 204 adult male felons. A correlation matrix presents interrelationships among scales. comparison mean scale scores groups resulted in a significant discrimination expected direction all but Hc scale. discriminant analysis procedure applied individual items from Inventory selection 25 variables which identified prone individuals with 90% accuracy. Clinical implications are noted recommendations future research made.
