摘要: Abstract Two separate alginic acid eliminases have been purified from abalone hepatopancreas. Alginase I appeared to be specific for β-1,4 bonds involving d-mannuronic units and apperently acts at random on internal bonds. II cleave 1,4 l-guluronic work or near chain ends. A combination of both enzymes could not degrade completely, indicating the presence other types An ionic concentration about 50 75 mm was required maximum activity. It appears that high strength necessary remove bound water substrate, acid, neutralize negative charges polyanion in order render molecular configuration more suitable enzyme action.
