摘要: Two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes differing in their sensitivity to water deficit (stress tolerant - C306 and stress susceptible HD2329) were subjected osmotic for 7 d using polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000; potential −1.0 MPa), at initial vegetative growth. The plants either supplemented with 1 mM CaCl2 (Ca2+) alone or along verapamil (VP; calcium channel blocker) investigate the involvement of governing osmoregulation. Relative elongation rate (RER), dry matter (DM) production, (Ψw), electrolyte leakage (EL), contents proline (Pro) glycine betaine (GB) activities γ-glutamyl kinase (GK) oxidase (PO) shoots roots examined during period. showed relatively higher accumulation Pro while HD2329 accumulated more GB under stress. RER, DM Ψw than HD2329. Roots compared lower content osmolytes but had faster accumulation. Presence Ca2+ medium increased activity GK decreased that PO presence its inhibitor, decrease both enzymes was observed. appeared reduce damaging effect by elevating GB, improving status growth seedlings minimizing injury membranes. protective observed be C306.
