摘要: AN AUTOETHNOGRAPHY: A MATHEMATICS TEACHER’S JOURNEY OF IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION AND CHANGE by Anthony B. Stinson Despite some gains, improving secondary mathematics instruction remains an area of concern the National Council Teachers Mathematics (NCTM). Recitation, also known as lecturing, prevails practice choice teachers in United States. However, report NCTM Research Advisory Committee 2000 indicates that mathematical proficiency students increases when includes more than recitation. Therefore, changes classroom should occur to improve student learning. The purpose this dissertation is provide a personalized account one teacher’s use reflective teaching agent change. This about journey change fostered identity teacher. chronicles construction study has relevance because process utilized teacher provides method self-examination and for other who want their practices. it describes how takes ownership self-improvement. qualitative uses autoethnography methodology. Autoethnography research, writing story where researcher subject researcher’s experiences are data (Ellis Bochner 2000). theoretical frame theory relates construction. Memory, videotaped lessons, commentary journal serve supporting sources render narratives detailing findings. research question guiding is: In what ways does reflection on facilitate practice? findings show can be interwoven many characteristics at times work simultaneously. indicate changing one’s practices arduous but accomplished given “voice.”
