摘要: Ficus religiosa L. is a tree of immense cultural heritage in Asian countries. It respected by followers many religions and faiths. Fruits are the ‘figs’ possess medicinal properties reported ethnomedicinal pharmacological studies. These range from antidiabetic, anticancer, anticonvulsant, antimicrobial, antiviral antioxidant activities. In figs, pollination takes place with ‘wasp’. Till date no work on ‘fruit tissue culture’ has been this species. For first time callus cultures have developed using ‘fig fruits’. Fruit was multiplied solid medium 2 mm to 3 diameter fruits. During present study, lectin/hemagglutinin activity detected fruits fruit extracts for time. Both vivo (figs) vitro fig were used assay hemagglutinin pronase treated untreated rabbit blood erythrocytes. extract showed 4-8 times more hemagglutination presence report callus/suspension culture detection thermostable (up 70oC) hemagglutinin/lectin Preliminary biochemical characterization lectin e.g. metal ion requirement, EDTA, pH temperature stability carried out during study.
