摘要: The atmosphere transmits wavelike signals at a wide range of speeds. Rapidly moving, physically insignificant waves can impose very strict time-step limitations on numerical methods in order to ensure the integrations remain stable. Sound waves, for example, travel rapidly but are essentially no meteorological significance, and it is not practical simulate most atmospheric circulations using short time steps required accurate stable integration sound waves. This chapter reviews techniques circumventing such step restrictions, thereby allowing size be chosen accuracy stability significant components solution.
