Leucogranite intruding the South Tibetan Detachment in western Nepal: implications for exhumation models in the Himalayas

摘要: The most popular models regarding the exhumation of Greater Himalayan Sequence (GHS), such as extrusion, channel flow, critical taper and wedge require prolonged activity two bounding shear zones faults, Main Central Thrust (MCT) South Tibetan Detachment (STD). We present crystallization age an undeformed leucogranite that intrudes both GHS Tethyan Himalaya (THS). Zircon monazite U-Pb ages in give between 23 25 Ma constraining, at time, end shearing along STD. Our results limit contemporaneous MCT STD to a short period time (~1–2 Ma) thus argue against requiring
