摘要: BACKGROUND : Diabetes continuously disrupts a patient’s well-being and quality of life. Successful self-care could potentially decrease overall costs rates mortality morbidity. Patients’ experiences be used to elucidate what they believe about illness its management. The aim this study was illuminate the meaning among diabetic patients in Southeast Iran. METHODS Sixteen with mean age 34 10 years’ experience for their disease were interviewed. interviews recorded, transcribed verbatim, analyzed Ricoeur’s phenomenological hermeneutic method. RESULTS self- care comprehensively understood as being empowered. This can divided into four themes: seeking information, independent, optimistic or pessimistic trust God. CONCLUSION results suggest that cultural religious components affect patients' self-care. Nurses might use patients’ beliefs relieve stress, help them retain sense control, maintain hope purpose KEYWORDS self-care, Diabetic patients, IRAN
