摘要: Within the field of wildlife conservation birds enjoy great popular appeal. This popularity is partly because are conspicuous and often brightly coloured organisms, there a long tradition ornithology. Conservation organizations increasingly using ornithological evaluations as one component assessment, result huge interest in but also perhaps recognition that some sites with interesting bird populations otherwise limited interest. Birds valued for other than aesthetic or cultural reasons. Certain species may act indicators environmental pollution when heavy metal pesticide residues can be measured from tissue analysis; prey seabirds notable examples. In most extreme cases severe population declines have provided warning pervasive insidious deterioration, peregrine, Falco peregrinus, virtually world-wide (Ratcliffe, 1981). Because their conspicuousness, ubiquity ecological diversity been used broad quality extensive land use planning (for example Graber Graber, 1976; Svensson, 1977; van der Ploeg Vlijm, 1978; Blana, 1980).
