Attitudes, beliefs, and practices of Sri Lankan nurses toward cancer pain management: An ethnographic study

摘要: Cancer pain is a serious problem that requires specialized nursing knowledge. In the present ethnographic study, we sought to explore experiences and cancer management practices of nurses working at government hospital in Sri Lanka. Data were collected from October 2007 January 2008, obtained by observing ward, conducting semistructured interviews with 10 participants, maintaining research diary. To analyze data, data coded, an integrative process was implemented develop categories. The results suggested Lankan perform poor due lack resources, shortage nurses, workload allocation within hospital. Additionally, are not autonomous, required refer medical staff for strategies. work task-oriented system rarely acknowledges patients' needs. This study might improve patients lead changes curriculum courses
