摘要: ACUTE suppurative thyroiditis is rare in children. We report here the first case, to our knowledge, caused by Bacteroides melaninogenicus . Report of a Case A 2-year-old boy was admitted Children's Hospital Newark for sore throat, fever, swelling neck, and dysphagia 24-hours' duration. Four weeks before admission, child had accompanied cough. He been treated with antibiotics cough mixture. On day neck noticed, followed. The medical history normal, birth, growth, development normal. Temperature 102.4 F (39.1 C); pulse rate, 160 beats per minute; blood pressure, 94/60 mm Hg; respiratory 32/min. There diffuse anterior midcervical region that measured 8 cm at greatest diameter (from right left sternocleidomastoid muscles). mass tender, moveable swallowing, nonfluctuant.
