On the Construction Date of the Derbend Fortification Complex

摘要: The paper discusses several aspects of the history one great architectural and fortifying undertakings Sasanian period, namely Derbend defensive wall. Comparing all available data on time this construction, author draws a picture key historical events 6th century A.D., complicated relations Sasanians with their neighbours, phenomenon so-called Northern tribes, against whom, strictly speaking, fortification complex was erected. article gives convincing answer to problem construction date complex, rightfully called Great Caucasian Wall.
