摘要: This study is part of an international program ‘IMMORTEEL’ investigating the possible contribution habitat contamination in decline Atlantic eels. Biomarker responses and muscle concentrations persistent organic contaminants (POPs) were examined European eels (Anguilla anguilla) American rostrata) Gironde St. Lawrence Rivers basins. In 2011 2012, yellow collected at two reference sites (Certes Dordogne France Riviere Sud-Ouest Saint-Jean Quebec, Canada) contaminated (Garonne Lake Saint-Pierre Saint Francois Quebec). Principal component analysis was useful to discriminate effects natural ecological gradients anthropogenic contaminant on biological responses, over a large geographic scale. Patterns differed markedly between with higher PCB relative other POPs from France. 2012 but not 2011, hepatic ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase induction increased density splenic melanomacrophage centers detected Garonne compared sites. morphometric characteristics major discriminant factors upstream downstream Links biomarker exposure groups health impacts will be discussed.
