摘要: Abstract Background/purpose Saliva plays a critical role in the oral cavity health; levels of its constituents alter with age. The reduced glutathione:oxidized glutathione ratio (GSH:GSSG) plasma is reported to be lower elderly people and thus can an indicator aim this study was detect age-related changes salivary biomarker evaluate whether GSH:GSSG aging. Materials methods Individuals who participated were divided into two groups: group (n = 20; age 60–80 years) young 20–30 years). Unstimulated saliva collected passively for 5 minutes, followed by clinical examination. flow rate (SFR), pH, buffering capacity measured, centrifugation saliva, collection supernatant, measurement following biomarkers: calcium (Ca), alpha (α)-amylase, GSH, GSSG, matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MMP-8), collagenase type-I, tissue inhibitor metalloproteinase (TIMP-1). Descriptive analyses variables performed. Results showed significantly SFR Ca than group, whereas type-1 MMP-8 group. None capacity, α-amylase, GSH:GSSG, or TIMP-1 any statistically significant difference between groups. Conclusion mixture components, which increase, decrease, remain stable Although it did not reach level significance.
