摘要: Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder in which, classically, patients present with postural instability and falls, parkinsonism, slowing of vertical saccades. PSP typically have deficits cognitive functioning, difficulties most daily activities, notable behavioral disturbances—particularly apathy, impulsivity, irritability. Using data from 154 meeting criteria for clinically probable PSP, domain total scores the Neuropsychiatric Inventory were examined compared to demographics, disease severity, cognition, motor features. Behavioral abnormalities common this cohort patients, more than half experiencing depression, sleeping problems, approximately one third displaying agitation, irritability, disinhibition, eating problems. Few clinical correlates neuropsychiatric symptoms observed cohort. Given prevalence these are expected be frequently seen by psychiatrists other mental health professionals symptom management increased quality life. Clinical trials clearly needed address morbidity patients.
