摘要: Contemporary societal concerns emphasize the importance of cost optimization and sustainable constructions. However, with respect to structural fire safety, application prescriptive design rules remains common practice procedures are generally limited a few examples performance based design. Both methods consider an explicit or implicit prescribed safety level which is on empirical considerations. A more rational approach take into account characteristics structure determine economic optimum This obtained by minimizing total costs, explicitly taking e.g. ignition frequency, probability successful suppression damage costs due fire-induced failure. Applying this methodology simply supported concrete slabs indicates that in specific situations additional investments beyond legally required minima constitute cost-effective It concluded powerful tool assess utility legal requirements.
