摘要: DNA microarrays can be used to measure environmental stress responses. If they are predictive of impact, we need determine if altered gene expression translates into negative impacts on individuals and populations. A large cDNA microarray (14000 spots) was created molecular responses cadmium in Daphnia magna, the mostwidely aquatic indicator species, relate population growth rate (pgr). We the array detect differences transcription genes juvenile D. magna (24 h old) after 24 exposure a control three concentrations (6, 20, 37 microg Cd2+ L(-1)). Stress at level were estimated following further 8 days exposure. Pgr approximately linear with increasing concentration over this range. The profile response acute begins provide an overview magna, especially relation development. Of responding genes, 29% involved metabolism including carbohydrate, fat peptide metabolism, energy production, 31% transcription/translation, while 40% associated cellular processes like moulting, ion transport, general (which included oxidative stress). Our production application has shown that measured logically linked impact toxicant such as somatic development, consequently pgr.
