摘要: Abstract A unique set of data from Valdai, Russia, (previously unreported in the United States) is used to evaluate ubiquitous standard 8-in.-diameter raingage that has been for over 100 years at tens thousands States stations. The results Valdai analyses (where 8-in. measurements had analyzed during 4 parallel observations with etalon raingage) are consistent other findings summarized this paper. Rain undercatch (unshielded) about 4%. Evaporation losses and wetting part water stays on funnel bucket walls not measured) have estimated were found be fairly small. To put perspective, snow (as reported by others) can several percent windy, unshielded sites.
