摘要: Following the cloning of killer cell immunoglobulin-like (KIR) genes in 1995 (Colonna M, Samaridis J. Science 268(5209):405–408, 1995) their population diversity has become increasingly apparent. This spawned a plethora disease association studies. As KIR need to be considered combination with MHC class I ligands, this added complexity analysis these KIR, and KIR:MHC gene combinations have been associated viral infections, autoimmunity, transplantation pregnancy-associated disorders. Simple rules, which interpret datasets, are often difficult find and, as our understanding interaction between increases, datasets will even more complex. review attempts summarize current knowledge whilst indicating areas potential further complexity.
