摘要: The role of sun exposure in development basal cell and squamous carcinomas among different populations from south Europe was investigated. Between 1989 1993 we interviewed incident cases a random population sample controls five centres where cancer registry operating, whereas selected hospital-based the other three centres. We gathered information on life-long to sunlight during activities. Results are analysed for 1549 carcinoma (BCC) 228 (SCC) compared with 1795 controls. observed statistically significant increase risk SCC increasing beyond threshold 70,000 cumulated hours lifetime. Sun exposures work holidays were, however, inversely correlated. Odds ratios (ORs) were up eight or nine times reference highest (200,000 more). BCC exhibited 2-fold lower (8000-10,000 lifetime) plateau slight decrease (100,000 Outdoor showed significantly increased (OR 1.6 more than 54,000 lifetime), recreational activities such as at beach 2600 water sports associated an BCC. Risk patterns poor good tanners trend tanners, any level exposure. Solar radiation is even relatively short periods sports, develops later if continues. skin's ability tan modulates BCC; subjects who poorly have steady increase, people easily develop only after prolonged exposures.
