摘要: The pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) is widely assumed to play a key role in both reductive biosynthesis and protection from oxidative stress because it the major source of NADPH. However, little known about activity PPP fatty liver, which characterized by lipogenesis. This study was designed test whether active parallel with lipogenesis antioxidant processes liver whole animals. Eight- 16-wk-old obese Zucker diabetic rats their lean littermates received [U-13C3]glycerol, 13C labeling patterns glucose triglycerides were analyzed for assessment hepatic potentially related simultaneously. Oxidative stress, activity, NADPH-producing enzymes further examined. Both increased young but decreased together older rats. As expected, lipid peroxidation measured malondialdehyde at ages. evidence such as [glutathione] or activities glutathione reductase, peroxidase, catalase not altered. Hepatic paralleled dissociated biomarkers processes. In summary, NADPH presumably consumed rather than defense liver.
