摘要: A problem in mapping the polar sea-ice covers both hemispheres has been sporadic false indication of sea ice over open ocean and at edge. These spurious concentrations result from variations sea-surface roughening by surface winds, atmospheric water vapor precipitating non-precipitating liquid water. This was addressed for derived Nimbus-7 scanning multi-channel microwave radiometer (SMMR) data through development a weather filter based on spectral information 18.0 37.0 GHz vertical polarization SMMR channels.
