摘要: A problem in mapping the polar sea-ice covers both hemispheres has been sporadic false indication of sea ice over open ocean and at edge. These spurious concentrations result from variations sea-surface roughening by surface winds, atmospheric water vapor precipitating non-precipitating liquid water. This was addressed for derived Nimbus-7 scanning multi-channel microwave radiometer (SMMR) data through development a weather filter based on spectral information 18.0 37.0 GHz vertical polarization SMMR channels. Application similar use with concentration maps special-sensor imager (SSM/I) sensor is less successful. results position 19.35 SSM/I channels, which are closer to center 22.2 water-vapor line than Thus, channels more sensitive changes vapor, greater contamination problems.
