Traveler's diarrhea in children: New insights and existing gaps

摘要: Abstract The number of children accompanying their parents in international travel is increasing steadily, and with the rising global migration, more frequently accompany or caregivers for visiting friends relatives (VFR). As compared to tourism, VFR are at higher risk acquiring local diseases, as they often stay rural areas resource-poor locations, have longer periods visit, less likely attend pre-travel consultations, adhere recommended precautions. Travelers's diarrhea (TD) most common travel-associated illnesses children. This review updates existing knowledge on TD children, regarding its distinctive epidemiology, factors, preventive measures, clinical manifestations, complications, causative microorganisms management. Despite limited focused research pediatric TD, which challenges formulation children-oriented evidence-based guidelines, practical recommendations suggested.
