摘要: Once upon a time the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) enjoyed relatively unchartered existence, when only fall from jousting horse or chariot might have sent knight gladiator into early retirement due to an unstable knee. In today's world of high speed travel and ever increasing number sports enthusiasts, injuries ACL are almost common place with yearly incidence about 35 per 100,000 population. Although we known existence ligaments since they were first described by Galen over 2000 years ago, awareness their function consequences loss not appreciated until much later. Robert Adams observed clinical case tear in 1837 but treatment those days was largely conservative surgery reserved for life threatening conditions as mortality high. The repair performed 1895 Mayo-Robson Leeds followed Grekow Hey Groves who initiated reconstruction autologous tissue between 1914 1920, know it today.
