Design, Fabrication and Characterization of EMFi-based Ferroelectret Air-coupled Ultrasonic Transducer

摘要: Abstract Air-coupled ultrasonic testing (ACUT) has many advantages over other non-destructive (NDT) methods, among which the most outstanding one is completely no contamination of sample. Therefore, it can be applied in various conditions where liquid coupling media not suitable. With development ACUT, found that mismatch between air and solid biggest difficulties confronting researchers, electromechanical film (EMFi) with low acoustic impedance a promising solution when used as vibration element air-coupled transducers. In this contribution, planar two spherically focused EMFi-based transducers were designed, fabricated, their properties characterized through frequency response test well focal length test. Then imaging experiments PMMA samples performed to demonstrate possibility feasibility EMFi non-contact testing.
