摘要: The Period1 (Per1) is a clock-oscillating gene product that plays an essential role in the generation and modulation of circadian rhythm suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) hypothalamus. However, Per1 also expressed many other brain regions including cerebral cortex, hippocampus, amygdala, suggesting may be involved broader cellular functions addition to regulation. In this study, we found chemical or electrical seizure-inducing stimulations regulate expression. Treatments with electric convulsive shock (ECS) kainic acid (KA) robustly up-regulated expressions per1 mRNA protein hippocampal formation cortex. consistent, neuronal depolarization KA treatment increased expression cultured primary cortical neurons. Because it has been demonstrated Per family molecules contribute regulation stress-induced cell death, explored effect overexpression on survival neither basal, staurosporine- nor KA-induced death was affected by forced Per1. Collectively, these results suggest activity- epileptogen-dependent, although its functional significance remained explored.
