摘要: Knowledge of trematode infections in Biomphalaria pfeifferi from south-eastern Nigeria is scarce, due to the absence Schistosoma mansoni infection region. Therefore, present study sought describe B. River Uzuru Cement Factory area, Nkalagu, Nigeria. Four hundred and sixty snails were checked for infections, mice exposed cercariae shed snails. Adult worms harvested 13 weeks post-infection, while sections liver spleen examined. Primary school children living area screened S. assessed activities involving water contact. The edges river also searched burrows rodents. five cercaria morphotypes found armatae xiphidiocercariae, echinocercariae, cercariae, cystophorous cercariaeum cercariae. overall prevalence mean intensity 39.78% 195.46, with most higher hot-dry than cool-dry season. infected showed mansoni-like characteristics but stool samples schoolchildren negative eggs. Water-contact minimal. Burrows seen at no eggs recovered captured rats. This first report other Additional molecular investigations are needed identify correctly these their public health implication.
