摘要: Members of three putatively novel Streptomyces species, designated groups A, B and C, were repeatedly isolated from environmental samples taken four hay meadow plots at Cockle Park Experimental Farm, Northumberland (UK). Representative isolates found to have properties consistent with their classification in the genus recovered taxa using different phenotypic criteria, namely morphological pigmentation properties, rapid enzyme tests, whole-organism fatty acid, protein electrophoretic pyrolysis mass-spectrometric data. The rapidly characterised as taxonomic mass spectrometry. also distinguished one another validly described species tests based on fluorophores 7-amino-methylcoumarin 4-methylumbelliferone, computer-assisted identification procedures. results indicate that selective isolation characterisation streptomycetes spectrometry provide a practical way determining diversity natural habitats. experimental data representative sampling cultivable soil can best be achieved multi-step extraction procedure coupled use
