Do institutions matter to the strategic posture and performance of SMEs? Lessons from an emerging economy

摘要: Can the institutional environment explain why some SMEs are more entrepreneurial and better performers than others? This study seeks answers to this question by developing testing measurement structural models of formal institutions as they relate strategic posture organisational performance small medium enterprises (SMEs) in an emerging economy context. Guided theory, proposes a set which reflects SMEs' at sub-national or city-level opposed common analyses with country-wide focus. The involves survey 955 owners and/or managers two cities Philippines. The attempts determine owners'/managers' perceptions on how impacts their firms' overall posture, consequently, performance. empirical analysis makes use equation modelling (SEM) examine test hypothesised relationships institutions-strategic posture-organisational nexus. The study’s results show that four types significantly associated latter is positively higher levels Our also demonstrates partial mediating role majority - relationships.
