摘要: C OST-EFFECTIVENESS and high accuracy of whole body 1 8-Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18-FDG-PET) have been established for several malignancies. 2,3 However, pitfalls encountered due to variable degrees 18-FDG uptake by benign pathology. 4-66 In the majority cases visual interpretation (slight uptake, irregular or diffuse pattern) quantitative analysis with different cut-off values, along physical examination radiological correlation, will clarify underlying causes. The physiological artifactual accumulation 4,67 in scans, technical biological factors causing false-positive results 15 reviewed recently. We report seven 8-FDG related lactation (Fig 1), muscle artifact at insertion Latissmus Dorsi 2), esophagitis 3), a tracheostomy tube 4), ectopic pelvic kidney 5), hydatid cyst 6), chronic nonspecific lymphadenitis (sinus histiocytosis) 7). following are reported causes that should be considered interpreting scans decrease rate oncologic patients.
