Health Care Financing in Ethiopia: Implications on Access to Essential Medicines.

摘要: Abstract Background The Ethiopian health care system is under tremendous reform. One of the issues high on agenda financing. In an effort to protect citizens from catastrophic effects clearly share out-of-pocket expenditure, government currently working introduce insurance. Objective This article aims highlight components financing reform and discuss its implications access essential medicines. Methods A desk review policy documents proclamations was done. Moreover, a scientific literature done via PubMed search other local journals not indexed in PubMed. Results Revenue retention by facilities, systematizing fee waiver system, standardizing exemption services, outsourcing nonclinical user setting revision, initiation compulsory insurance (community-based social insurance), establishment private wing public hospitals, facility autonomy were main Ethiopia. Although limited, evidence shows that there increased utilization, medicines, quality services as result reforms. Conclusions Encouraging progress has been made implementation reforms However, shortage effect medicines country. Thus, clear need exists for well-organized research issue.
