摘要: Three cations of varying size and charge density, egg-white lysozyme, protamine ruthenium red, were used to stain the extracellular matrix epiphyseal cartilage growth plate. With these stains, it was possible distinguish three types proteoglycans or materials associated with them, which may well have as their major differences type cross linking tissue. One stained by red but not extractable 3 M guanidinium chloride relatively uniformly dispersed throughout The other two all cations, intimately fibrils. found on collagen fibrils, scanty in resting zone near articular surface, restricted extralacunar area columnar zones appeared diminish amount hypertrophic zone. This material often had a 640-A periodic array surface third also chloride. It distinguished from class lysozyme-reactive components larger volume distribution occupied material. different that widely zone, lacuna absent Thus, chondrocytes undergo differentiation
