摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the structure of aerobically grown microbial granules. Microbial granule, called “mycetoma” or “sclerotia,” can be formed inside body humans animals. It is a spherical ellipsoidal aggregate slow-growing bacterial cells fungal mycelium in infected part. These granules are formed, probably, because growth dense tissue, which pressing evenly from all directions. Current interest to related their formation during wastewater treatment sequencing batch reactors (SBR). Aerobically actively investigated as bioagents for biological wastewater. The features granules, used treatment, shape, sometimes they elongated so that rod-like, have size ranging 0.2–7 mm, filamentous, smooth, skin-like surface, dominantly hydrophobic hydrophilic, and gel-like interior (matrix). They also consist layers microaggregates specific microorganisms, several channels pores, inclusions particulates. Typical shapes sphere ellipsoid. roundness evaluated by ratio shortest longest axis
