摘要: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the key aspects transformation universities towards sustainability, such as ideal characteristics “sustainable university”, and drivers barriers in transformation, by comparing strategies seven world-wide. Design/methodology/approach A systems analysis case studies has been applied through a self-evaluation based on tridimensional Framework-Level-Actors (FLA) method. Findings study shows that none three dimensions change predominant over others. main barrier be overcome lack incentive structure for promoting changes at individual level. are presence “connectors” with society, existence coordination bodies projects, availability funding, all which important progress. Enhancing interdisciplinarity strategic objective almost these universities, while transformative learning less present. common characteristic most institutions establishing supporting networks expertise within universities. These show efforts initiatives drive nucleate sustainable development, result combination drivers. Practical implications FLA-method proved useful being used level case-studies bird’s-eye perspective. Originality/value demonstrates application simple tool gives global perspective transformational cases world-wide search commonalities differences.
